🔬 Technical Overview
The GERF® Waterproof Cryogenic Vest & Shoulder Protector is designed for high-risk cryogenic environments, providing certified upper-body protection against cryogenic liquid splashes at temperatures down to -196°C (-320°F) — including liquid nitrogen (LN₂), liquid oxygen (LOX), and liquid argon (LAr).
⚙️ Construction & Materials
- Multi-layer insulation system with double-sided waterproof barrier
- Cryogenic-grade waterproof leather shoulder reinforcement — engineered to resist friction and thermal shock from direct contact with cryogenic hoses and thermoses
- Highly durable blue king outer shell — resistant to abrasion and cryogenic fluid permeation
- High-tenacity nylon stitching with double-stitched seam reinforcement
- Certified flexible at -50°C — PASS on ISO 4675:2017 low temperature bend test
🛡️ Ergonomics & Fit
- Adjustable Velcro closure with 3-position chest extension for anthropometric adaptability
- Lightweight construction for extended wear without compromising range of motion
- Available sizes: S · M · L · XL · XXL
✅ Why GERF® for Cryogenic Risk?
- ⭐ EN 511 Contact Cold Level 4 — Maximum rating — independently certified by AITEX, the highest achievable level for contact cold protection under European standards
- 🚧 No sponge effect — double-sided waterproof outer shell repels cryogenic liquid splashes instead of absorbing them against your body
- 🚧 No liquid traps — designed without deep pockets or folds where cryogenic liquid could pool and cause freeze burns
- 🛡️ Reinforced shoulder zone — cryogenic-grade leather withstands direct contact with cryogenic hoses and thermoses, the highest-risk contact point during transfers
- ❄️ Certified flexible at -50°C — PASS on ISO 4675:2017; materials maintain full flexibility without becoming brittle
- 💧 Proven splash protection — engineered specifically against LN₂, LOX, LAR, LCO₂, and LNG splashes
⚠️ Limitations / Out of Scope
- Does NOT cover arms, hands, or lower body — complement with GERF® gloves, apron, and gaiters
- Not designed for pressurized cryogenic gas or vapor exposure
- Not suitable for immersion or prolonged submersion in cryogenic liquids
- Not a substitute for a full cryogenic suit in high-volume spill environments
🏭 Recommended Applications
- Liquid nitrogen (LN₂), LOX, LAr handling and dispensing
- Cryogenic tanker loading and unloading
- Cryogenic Dewar filling, transport, and maintenance
- LNG refueling station and filling station operations
- Cryogenic system servicing and maintenance
- Mining, oil & gas, petrochemical, and industrial gas sectors
