🧊 GERF® DOUBLE WATERPROOF CRYOGENIC PROTECTION TROUSERS
Multi-Layer Leg & Lower Body Protection Against Cryogenic Liquid Splashes | EN 511 · ISO 21420 Compliant
🔬 Technical Overview
The GERF® Double Waterproof Cryogenic Trousers are engineered to protect the legs and lower body against spills and splashes of cryogenic liquids at temperatures down to -196°C (-321°F), including liquid nitrogen (LN₂), liquid oxygen (LOX), liquid argon (LAR), LCO₂, and LNG. Built on the same multi-layer technology as GERF® certified cryogenic gloves and jacket, they deliver certified thermal and splash protection without compromising mobility or comfort during extended operations.
⚙️ Multi-Layer Construction
- 🔵 Outer layer: Waterproof polyamide coating — resists cryogenic liquid penetration and condensed water on cold surfaces
- ⚪ Middle layer: Polyolefin/polyester micro-fibre insulation — high-efficiency thermal barrier without added bulk
- ⚪ Inner layer: Soft polyester lining — comfortable against skin for long-duration wear
🛡️ Key Protection Features
- Protection against cryogenic liquid splashes (LN₂, LOX, LAR, LCO₂, LNG) at -170°C to -196°C
- Double waterproof barrier — outer coating + precision-sealed seam construction
- Full-length leg coverage with sealed seams
- Antistatic construction — safe for ESD-sensitive industrial environments
- Lightweight and highly flexible — unrestricted range of motion
- Does not harden or degrade at cryogenic temperatures
- Easy-clean outer shell for maintenance efficiency
✅ Why GERF® for Cryogenic Risk?
- 🚧 No sponge effect — the outer shell is waterproof polyamide, not cotton or absorbent fabric. Cryogenic liquid splashes bead off the surface instead of being retained against your legs
- 🚧 No liquid traps — the trousers are designed without deep pockets or folds where cryogenic liquid could pool and cause freeze burns
- 🚧 No exposed metal hardware — closures and adjustments are designed to prevent direct metal-to-skin contact at cryogenic temperatures
- ❄️ Stays flexible at -196°C — the composite materials do not harden or become brittle at cryogenic temperatures, maintaining full range of motion throughout the operation
- 💧 Proven splash protection — engineered specifically against LN₂, LOX, LAR, LCO₂, and LNG splashes, not just ambient cold
🏭 Recommended Applications
- Liquid nitrogen (LN₂) handling and dispensing
- Cryogenic tanker unloading — LOX, LIN, LAR, LCO₂, LNG
- Ultra-low temperature freezer operations
- Cryogenic Dewar filling, transport, and maintenance
- LNG facility operations and refueling stations
- Dry ice handling and cold storage environments
- Cryogenic pipeline defrosting and maintenance
- Oil & gas, mining, petrochemical, and industrial gas sectors
✅ Compliance & Standards
- 🧊 EN 511 — Protection against cold (convective, contact, and water penetration)
- 🛡️ ISO 21420 — General requirements for protective equipment
- ⚡ Antistatic construction — suitable for ESD-sensitive environments
⚠️ Caution: Not intended for full immersion in liquid nitrogen or other cryogenic liquids.
